About us

In November 2010, the JGU Senate established the Gutenberg Teaching Council (GTC) as one of the central academic institutions of JGU. The establishment of the GTC – in parallel to the previously established Gutenberg Research Council –  underlines the high significance of teaching at JGU.

The GTC primarily fulfils strategic tasks. These are, in particular, advising the university management and the faculties or schools on questions of studying and teaching, promoting innovative approaches and projects for the further development of study and teaching, as well as networking of teaching staff at JGU. The GTC also supports the exchange about studying and teaching between teaching staff and students at JGU. It recognizes special achievements in teaching and thus contributes to the appreciation of teaching at JGU.

The GTC is headed by an Executive Committee ("Leitungsgremium") and supported by an Academic Advisory Board ("Wissenschaftlicher Beirat").

The GTC office supports the Executive Committee.
