The GTC provides financial support for subjects and/or faculties to invite external scholars and artists with proven teaching expertise to JGU as visiting academics. These teaching assignments, which may be approved for up to six months, are intended to contribute to the national and international exchange of information and teaching experience as well as to the establishment of a network of dedicated teaching staff. It is hoped that the discussions about methodological and didactic concepts prompted by these teaching assignments will promote the development and/or improvement of innovative forms of teaching and learning at JGU.
Financial support of up to € 50,000 can be made available to cover the following costs associated with a guest lectureship:
- Salary for the visiting academic, including travel costs
- Support by a student assistant
- Documentation and publication of experiences
The hosting faculty is obligated to provide the necessary infrastructure (in terms of both working environment and teaching materials) to enable guest lecturers to engage in teaching activities.
These teaching activities should be integrated within the faculty. Furthermore, visiting academics are expected to document their own teaching/learning concepts within JGU and make them available to others, and to contribute to the mutual exchange of experiences (for example, through joint teaching colloquiums or workshops sponsored by the GTC).
